A roofing death construction lawsuit case has ended. An Ohio work site was the location of a roofing death that happened on top of a high school gym. The roofing worker was killed when he fell through the high school gymnasium roof. The Cleveland based roofing company and their insurance company agreed during a break in the closing arguments of the trial. The terms of the case were kept confidential, though the dollar amount was published on the record for the case.
The roofer was working on the school’s gym in 2008 when a panel from the roof broke under his feet, thus he fell to his death. The law firm representing the roofing worker's family asked the jury for 4 million dollars in damages, arguing that the roofing company was sending the roof worker to a dangerous roof area without safety precautions.
Each year, on average, between 150 and 200 workers are killed and more than 100,000 are injured as a result of falls at construction sites.
